Feeling different or unstuck takes effort and commitment on your part. It’s probably not what you want to hear. I wish it was as easy as taking a pill. Most things worth fighting for means going through the emotional pain (e.g., tears, discomfort, etc.) like in sports or academics. To get unstuck, usually means going through the muck, setbacks, and pain. You overachievers know what I am talking about.

However, I want you to set your emotional health and well-being as a goal for your life. Run after it with all you got and put in the work. Commit to trying something different and fight for it. The results often follow you for a life time as you may feel more confident, calm, purposeful, and/or free from feeling emotionally stuck.

Write down this goal on your bathroom mirror with lipstick or on a note card, tape it up in your room, or somewhere you will see it every day. Put it in your own words, rehearse it many times, and remind yourself of it every day. It may sound cheesy at first, but just go with it!                                                                                                          

Examples:

I will fight for my happiness/ well-being every day.

I believe in my emotional health and well-being.

I deserve a different life.

I refuse to remain stuck.
