Through my work in public school systems, I gained insight into the many challenges that children and adolescents encounter on a daily basis and the supports that they need to not only be successful, but to thrive. I have had the benefit of being able to extend that knowledge to include a broad range of presenting issues. My education and areas of interest primarily include evaluating and diagnosing psychological and developmental disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults, as well as providing support to clients and their families through and beyond the evaluation process.
I believe through comprehensive evaluation, one can better understand who they are, how to build on one’s existing strengths, and how to target areas for growth. Specific areas of interest for me include autism spectrum disorder; learning disorders; ADHD; anxiety; and disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders (e.g., oppositional defiant disorder, intermittent explosive disorder, etc.). I also provide independent educational evaluations (IEEs), am well versed in special education law, and enjoy collaborating and consulting with school systems. Supports offered beyond evaluation include direct counseling or intervention with clients to address social-emotional and behavioral concerns, training in executive functioning, and/or training parents on techniques to manage difficult behaviors at home.
