A comprehensive assessment usually ranges from $600 -$2,250 depending on the type of assessment and referral question(s). The cost of an assessment is determined by the number of hours required to complete the evaluation. The hourly rate is $150 per hour, which typically includes the following:
- gathering background information
- reviewing records
- writing a thorough report
- discussing results.
All estimated costs are discussed up front for transparency. Payment plans are negotiated prior to the evaluation. A partial deposit is required on the first day of testing. The remaining fees are due at the review of the results appointment. Payment may be made my cash, debit, or credit cards. Insurance for testing is not accepted.
Knoxville Behavioral and Mental Health Services will not call, write, or fax insurance companies. Instead, an itemized invoice will be given to the client, which may be submitted to the insurance company for possible reimbursement. Clinicians will not add, delete, or modify any content on an invoice in order to qualify or assist in insurance reimbursement. Please keep in mind, several insurance companies only reimburse, typically a fraction of the cost, if they deem it to be a medical necessity. This often excludes psychoeducational testing, legal or school meetings, etc.
See the table below, which provides an estimated time to administer a test. This is not an exhausted list of the instruments used. Please keep in mind the table does not depict the time it takes to score, interpret, and write the results.
